TORONTO, April 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Autism Speaks Canada is excited to announce that The CN Tower, Nathan Phillips Square and Niagara Falls will join us on April 2 as Part of a Global Initiative to Help Raise Awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder by Lighting It Up Blue – #LIUB.

Toys R Us and Babies R Us are leading the charge with an in-store fundraising campaign for the entire month of April and all head office staff will be wearing blue on April 2 in celebration of WAAD and Light It Up Blue.

MEGA Bloks is donating $1 from the sale of every product sold at TRU to Autism Speaks Canada for the entire month of April.

Home Depot and Philips have partnered with Autism Speaks Canada again through the sale of the Philips blue light bulb and lantern available at all Home Depot stores with $2 from each purchase being donated to ASC.

The CN Tower and Nathan Phillips Square join a list of nearly 10,000 iconic structures, buildings and landmarks in over 80 countries around the world that will shine a bright light on autism as a growing public health crisis. The Empire State Building in NYC, the Aspen Ski Mountain in Colorado, Niagara Falls in Canada, Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and even the International Space Station will all join Autism Speaks and in support of the millions of families affected by autism.

Throughout the month of April family-friendly events and activities including Blue Jays Awareness Game will be held in honour of the individuals, their family and friends, who are affected by autism.
